Ocean fest means having fun on the water! Down on the Foss dock, you can:

  • Try a kayak, rowboat or stand-up paddleboard
  • Pull the oars on a real Dragon Boat
  • Bring your craft to the Critical Mass Paddle at 3pm

Whitehall Rowing is based in Vancouver, B.C., and promote rowing human powered boats – no engines, no pollution! They’ll have 2 of their double 17 slide seat rowboats to try for a rowing demo, plus 2 Oar Board SUP rowers to try out.


Tacoma Dragon Boat AssociationTacoma Dragon Boat

The Tacoma Dragon Boat Association brings together people from diverse backgrounds around greater Tacoma to paddle a human-powered watercraft with a 2,000-year-old tradition. They love the beautiful coastal marine ecosystem, and the wildlife that calls it home, and are always picking up any floating trash they find. They’ll have a 20-paddler dragon boat to try out!

A non-profit that scouts constantly for pollution in Commencement Bay, CHB will be offering rides on their patrol boat so you can see what they do! They’ll also have some stand-up paddleboards to try. Sign up at their esplanade booth.
