THE PROBLEM

Traditional engines burn gasoline, which adds to the carbon dioxide in our atmosphere and accelerates global warming.

As our oceans warm, they threaten animals that can’t adapt – like coral. Polar bears lose their ice.

Increased carbon dioxide accumulates in the ocean and makes it more acidic. This weakens and kills animals like shellfish.

Drilling for gas can result in ocean oil spills, and cause whales to be disoriented, beach and die.

As populations increase, car pollution will only get worse – unless we do something about it.

THE ACTION

  • Drive less. Find journeys you can take by foot, bicycle or public transit (or kayak or paddleboard!)
  • Carpool whenever you can.
  • Use rideshare services.
  • Consider an electric or hybrid vehicle if you can afford it.
